A militant gang known as Black Marine, which poses as the armed wing of the Biafra Nations League, BNL, is suspected of kidnapping a female oil worker who is believed to be a French citizen.
The kidnapping occurred on Thursday morning, when a speed boat transporting her and other sailors to work was seized on the Bakassi Peninsula's Idabato subdivision, which has been annexed to Cameroon.
Perenco Oil and Gas Company, which operates in the Rio Del Rey in the Gulf of Guinea, is claimed to employ the female worker, whose identity was not immediately revealed.
According to sources, the victim's speed boat was on its way to Ndian in southwest Cameroon.
When contacted for confirmation, Commissioner of Police Alhassan Aminu stated, "I'm still in Abuja." Let me first contact my cops."
