On Monday, terrorists abducted an unknown number of motorists along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna route between Kuriga and Manini, near Udawa.
"Today, 31st May, 2022, terrorists along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna route intercepted a convoy of cars with security escorts between Kuriga and Manini near Udawa," said Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, Chairman, Brinin-Gwari Vanguards for security and good governance, in a statement issued on Monday.
They kidnapped an undefined number of individuals and took them into the jungle," he claimed.
"In the last four days, terrorists laid siege on motorists on the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway, abducting as well as killing and wounding many innocent citizens," he continued, "yet our people have been reduced to silence with no reportage of the ugly situation nor any move by the authorities to show concern on the deteriorating security around Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway," he bemoaned.
The chairman added that terrorists set fire to eight vehicles on Monday, and that an undetermined number of innocent motorists, primarily women and children, were kidnapped and taken into the jungle by the terrorists for ransom.
He said that, given the people's security concerns, no politician desired to visit Birnin-Gwari or meet with delegates, preferring instead to send representatives to Kaduna for deliberations.
