The Labour Party's Mr. Peter Obi called on the House of Assembly candidates from his party and the people of the state to cooperate with the governor after they had been elected. The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, responded through an assistant.

Using his press secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor responded, claiming that Obi's call was somewhat dishonest and intended to set "landmines" for Soludo.

In response to Obi's statement that the LP assembly candidates should support Soludo's government after winning the polls, Aburime made the call. After the Labour Party won over 95% of the votes in Anambra on February 25 in the presidential and National Assembly elections, including the governor's and APGA's strongholds, there have been significant efforts to get the state assembly elections moved up to May 18.While APGA, the ruling party, competes for control of the state assembly, Obi is attempting to use his influence and that of his party to elect more lawmakers to the assembly.

Obi met with the Labour Party's candidates for the national and state assemblies in Anambra on Friday, pleading with them to collaborate with Soludo after they had won office.

Obi assured his party's members that Soludo was still their brother and that he should not worry about being ousted by an assembly dominated by the Labour Party because the most important thing was to bring advancements to the state. But in response, Aburime stated on Saturday that Obi's call was somewhat misleading and was intended to mislead the people of Anambra against Soludo.

"That call was intended to mislead Anambra people," he declared. Obi cannot be advocating for Anambra's development while also urging residents to choose parliamentarians from the opposition party to collaborate with Soludo.

When he first assumed office as governor, the legislature was predominated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party. He is aware that this made things difficult for him.

We sincerely hope that it is not the same thing he intends to set Soludo up for, as he even experienced impeachment as a result of that.

"The people of Anambra should vote for APGA on Saturday with all their might,"if they want the governor's developmental efforts to continue.

Obi could not be discussing development while also advocating for the election of opposition candidates to the House of Assembly, according to him. It is a lie.

"The people of Anambra supported Obi in the presidential race, and on top of that, Soludo refrained from interfering as they flocked to the polls to cast their votes for the Labour Party—and that was even before Soludo created an atmosphere that encouraged voter turnout."We voted for the Labour Party in the presidential election, but we are voting for APGA in the House of Assembly election, and we want the people of Anambra to know that," he continued.

One of the states without a governorship election is Anambra, however the APGA and the LP are vying for control of the majority of the assembly's 30 members.
