The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has responded to the tragic murder of one of its corps members, Grace Chalya Silas, who was fatally stabbed in Kaduna by unidentified assailants.
The NYSC community was deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Grace Chalya Silas, bearing registration number KD/23A/4386, who was attacked and killed in the early hours of October 18, 2023, while she was out for a jog in Kaduna. The perpetrators not only took her life but also took her phone.
A concerned citizen alerted her fellow colleagues to the incident, prompting the NYSC management to swiftly transport the deceased to Harmony Hospital Limited in Barnawa, Kaduna, for immediate medical attention. Tragically, she did not survive.
In response to this tragic incident, the NYSC has extended its condolences to the grieving family, the deceased's fellow corps members, and her employer, among others. The NYSC, in a statement signed by Eddy Megwa, Director of Press and Public Relations, declared its commitment to working closely with various security agencies to track down the culprits and ensure that justice is served.
The statement further urged the public to cooperate with security agencies to guarantee the safety of all corps members who have been deployed to contribute to national development by serving in their respective communities. It emphasized that corps members are the children, sisters, and brothers of all Nigerians and should be protected accordingly.
