Before the Lagos State governorship election, the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) refused to form a coalition, which may have benefited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Following the presidential election, the All Progressives Congress, or APC, reportedly started engaging in horse trading to influence this Saturday's poll in its favor.
In addition to attempting to thwart a potential PDP-LP alliance, the ruling party is making contact with significant opposition figures and their major allies.
Analysts predict that an agreement between PDP's Azeez Adeniran (also known as Jandor) and LP's Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (also known as GRV) might topple the APC, but neither party is prepared to give ground.
As they reiterated their readiness to liberate Lagos "from the present oligarchy," Jandor and his party refuted allegations of an alliance last week.
According to a source who spoke to BEVIBESHUB, the opposition gave Sanwo-Olu a second term due to personal ambition.
The seasoned politician explained why he made his forecast while recounting the conspiracies that occurred prior to and following the PDP and LP primaries.
The PDP leader named Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki as two of the individuals supporting Jandor.
"Jandor was in the APC when we were looking for a candidate. The Abuja link at that point (Saraki, Makinde, and company) pushed him to join the PDP. He is so haughty because they made the first error by giving him control of the building.
"He is the person who promised to retire the senior PDP members. They made sure Jandor was in command of the primary delegates, which is why he triumphed. In actuality, he chose the majority of the Senate and House of Representatives nominees.
On May 25, 2022, Jandor, a businessman, defeated David Kolawole Vaughan (Dakova), garnering 679 votes out of 709 to earn the PDP ticket.
Nevertheless, additional candidates Rhodes-Vivour, Adedeji Doherty, Ade Dosunmu, and Jimi Karmal withdrew soon before the primaries started.
"When it became apparent that Jandor had been anointed, they left. With these people and their followers upset, how can PDP win? Source enquired.
They have not spoken. No household name is supporting Jandor; Abuja residents should come and do it, he continued.
The source also provided information about Chief Bode George, an ex-PDP Deputy National Chairman, and the emergence of Rhodes-Vivour as the LP standard bearer.
He recalled how, following Jandor's appearance, party leaders made an effort to find harmony and come to an agreement over the running mate.
"Jandor took advantage of the opportunity to choose Funke Akindele during that time of conflict, but popularity on television has little political impact.
"When George's demand was denied, he went to work for Gbadebo to get LP a ticket. He lacks even the pedigree, though. What previous accomplishments can we use to evaluate him? "MIT is all we hear," he remarked.
When asked how he acquired nomination forms, George revealed in September 2022 that the initial intention was for Jandor and Rhodes-Vivour to compete on the same PDP platform.
According to observers, the deputy governor candidates for the LP and PDP, Abiodun Oyefusi and Akindele, do not appear politically powerful and have not demonstrated academic prowess like the incumbent, former commissioner Femi Hazmat.
According to DAILY POST, several viewers found their individual interviews on Arise TV and Channels TV to be uninteresting. Oyefusi was unable to clearly state her party's platform, but Akindele asserted her confidence in victory by referring to her "friends and followers".
Akin Olaoye, a spokeswoman for the Rhodes-Vivour Campaign Organization, expressed confidence in the victory of the LP while speaking to DAILY POST on Sunday night.
"We anticipate a strong turnout similar to that seen during the February presidential election; we anticipate that GRV will prevail.
"The populace is prepared to vote out an institution that has controlled Lagos for a long time. They would be voting out godfatherism, corruption, and favoritism, he continued.
Governor Sanwo-Olu "will win this election and win convincingly," according to Lagos APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo.
