In Kwara State, suspected armed kidnappers kidnapped Kehinde Ikeanabi Jibril, a nursing mother.
But they spared her and dropped her four-month-old infant with the older kids.
The incident took place in the Asa Local Government neighborhood of the state in the Oketu neighborhood of Ago-Oja town, roughly 30 minutes' drive from Ilorin, the state capital.
Just two days before Friday's Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, according to a BEVIBESHUB investigation, the nursing mother was kidnapped at her husband's home on Alhaji Isiaka Oloye Jagun Street at around 1am.
The abducted nursing mother's husband, who was thought to be a cattle dealer and a high official of a cooperative society in the town, was the main target of the kidnappers.
When our journalist visited the town on Thursday, the abducted woman's whereabouts were still unclear. The kidnappers reportedly demanded N10m for her release.
Speaking on the incident, the Baale of Ago-Oja, Malam Daudu Salaudeen Arolu, decried the area's recent increase in kidnapping instances, calling the trend regrettable and frightful.
He revealed that another victim, who was reportedly a student at the Kwara State Polytechnic, was also kidnapped on the fatal day the nursing mother was taken away in an attack at his home in the town.
Before being taken away to an unidentified location, Daudu claimed the boy was gravely hurt when he faced the armed kidnappers who had been firing randomly at his Abiye residence in Ago-Oja.
The boy later passed away in the hospital from his wounds sustained in the attack, according to the grieving community leader, even though the kidnappers had received N400,000 in ransom before releasing him.
The Baale further revealed that one individual was earlier kidnapped on Good Friday eve, but was eventually freed after paying N2.8m out of the N3m ransom sought, days before the kidnapping of the nursing mother and the late student.
He claimed that after the release of the victim, who had also sustained injuries while being held captive, police officers and vigilante groups were called upon to conduct the rescue operation.
A team of security personnel, including troops, visited the town on Wednesday this week in relation to the incident, according to Daudu.
The state government urgently needed to step in to save the people, according to the Baale, even if security had been stepped up in the town in cooperation with vigilante organizations.
The community leader claims that there are no police stations along the section of road connecting Ogbondoroko, Ago-Oja, Laduba, and Afon town, the seat of Asa Local Government.
There is just one police station in our region, which is in Afon town, he declared.
According to BEVIBESHUB, the Magaji Erubu, Dr. Erubu, was recently kidnapped at his property in Ago-Oja by armed robbers and eventually released after being held captive for days.
The Alangua of Laduba, Mohammed Saidu, also discussed the threat of kidnappers in the region and claimed that his community's residents now live in fear.
The nearby settlement of Laduba Town shares a border with Ago-Oja in the region.
Mohammed claimed that further security measures have been taken to protect local residents' lives and property.
In order to lessen the threat of food insecurity, he further urged the state government to offer protection for the people referred to as an agricultural community.
