Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by several countries, including the United States, Israel, and the European Union. However, it is also recognized as a legitimate political party by some other nations. The designation of Hamas varies depending on the country's policies and perspectives.
A dozen trucks carrying urgently needed aid, marking the third convoy in three consecutive days, entered Gaza from Egypt on Monday through the Rafah crossing, which is not controlled by Israel.
The United States, which facilitated the entry of these aid convoys, has committed to ensuring a continuous flow of relief supplies into Gaza. This is particularly crucial as Israel has significantly restricted access to necessities such as water, food, power, and fuel in Gaza.
Despite these efforts, fighting continued relentlessly overnight, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterating Israel's intention to "erase Hamas," and the prospect of a full-scale ground invasion remains imminent.
In the recent conflict in Gaza, Hamas-controlled government media reported that more than 60 people were killed during the night, with 17 of them in a single strike on a house in northern Gaza. Additionally, at least 10 others were killed in new strikes on Monday morning. The Israeli military confirmed that it had targeted over 320 military objectives in the Gaza Strip during the 24-hour period leading up to Monday morning.
These targets included tunnels containing Hamas members, numerous operational command centers, as well as military compounds and observation posts used by the Islamic Jihad group. Local residents in places like Rafah, such as Mohammed Abu Sabalah, described the aftermath of the bombings, with thick smoke obstructing visibility.
Some expressed gratitude for surviving the attacks but noted damage to windows and doors in their homes.
Israeli forces have been stationed near the Gaza border, and smaller units have initiated limited incursions with the aim of targeting Hamas and potentially rescuing hostages. Israel estimates that there are 222 missing individuals associated with the conflict.
In one such operation, a 19-year-old Israeli soldier lost his life, and three others were injured. The operation's purpose was to disassemble terrorist infrastructure and locate missing persons and bodies.
