The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has stated that Abba Kyari, the former Deputy Commissioner of Police, is secure in jail since his life is not under danger.
Mr Francis Enobore, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), revealed this in an Abuja statement on Thursday.
Following a post by an online media outlet that Kyari was assaulted by his fellow convicts, Enobore stated that it was imperative to address the situation.
According to him, the Service's officials were considering transferring Kyari to DSS custody, according to the false news peddler."The narrative is untrue, irresponsible, and malicious," he stated.
"It's the product of a few unemployed, cheap recognition-seeking charlatans posing as journalists, who lack the intellectual capacity to question what they imagine or hear before feeding the public.
"The author's total lack of understanding of where and how a suspect is detained says volumes about his ineptness and how much his tale should be trusted."
"For the fact, Abba Kyari is one of around 800 convicts being held in the facility where he is being held.
"However, renowned persons like as former governors, ministers, senators, and other personalities of higher social stature have walked through the same facility without facing any danger," he stated.
According to Enobore, the NCoS authorities do not and have never requested the transfer of Abba Kyari, or any other detainee, to any other detention center beyond its authority.
He stressed that Kyari is secure and uninjured, and that he goes about his daily routine like any other convict.
"Those who are playing pranks with his incarceration are advised to refrain from such disloyal conduct, as they may be required to defend their statements through official litigation."
"The Controller-General of the NCoS, Haliru Nababa, is adamant about ensuring convicts' welfare, safety, and humane treatment.
"As a result, inane articles will not distract him," Enobore stated.
