An accused commander of the high-profile terrorist gang known as the Unknown Gunmen has been apprehended.

On Sunday, the terrorist, who claimed to be a group commander, was alleged to have been apprehended.

Mr Ikechukwu Onyia, a Facebook user who published photos and videos of the arrested commander, said: "At approximately 1.35pm today, special tactical teams apprehended Nnahadi Michael at Ebenator-Udene Village, Amichi, Nnewi South LGA."

"While implementing the Sit At Home order at Amichi, extorting money and spreading mayhem, he was unmasked as part of a group operating as Unknown Gunmen, UGM."

In the video, the perpetrator admits to only killing three people since joining the gang.

"We only bound them to confess if they were politicians," the perpetrator added in Igbo. "But two died." Only one person was killed by a bullet.

"As for the person who was beheaded, he was not beheaded by me. I hadn't been promoted to commander at the time, but I joined them for that mission. "Our commander was killed back then," he continued.

The culprit's major companion, Chikwendu Mbonu, a witch doctor from Obiagu, is still at large, but his Shrine has been demolished, according to Onyia's tweet, while the suspect is currently in command custody for further interrogation.

Meanwhile, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, said he could not confirm the authenticity of the video and that the arrest was made by the Imo State Police Command.

CSP Abattam, the spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, did not take or respond to calls.
