A 24-year-old accused rapist was taken into custody by the Amotekun Corps, a security network of states in the South-West, on Friday in Iwo, Osun.
He was accused of having had carnal knowledge of the 16-year-old girl while keeping her in his room for three days.
The 28-year-old herbalist was detained by the security agency close to Iwo, according to retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, the corps commander in Osun.
The herbalist was discovered to be in possession of counterfeit $100 and N1,000 notes in addition to allegedly defrauding some others.The suspects were detained on Friday in Iwo at several locations after Amotekun was informed of their malicious actions.
The suspects were turned over to the police for further investigation and prosecution after confessing to the crimes during interrogation, according to Adewinmbi.The Amotekun commander advised Osun residents to constantly assist security services with information that could help to avoid crime and apprehend offenders.
