Gunmen believed to be terrorists launched an attack on Plateau State University (PLASU) with the intent to abduct students. The institution's Public Relations Officer, Mr. John Agams, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stating that the gunmen stormed the university on Tuesday night.
Agams revealed that the security personnel at the university successfully repelled the armed assailants who had invaded the female hostel. Although one student sustained injuries during the unfortunate incident, Agams emphasized that no students were abducted.
"Gunmen attempted to kidnap some of our students, but the attempt was repelled by our local security personnel," Agams stated. "In the process, one student was injured, but no student was abducted. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bernard Matur, is currently on the school premises, appealing to students to remain calm and peaceful."
