David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, a celebrated musician from Nigeria, has revealed why he left his initial job as a record producer to pursue music.
The Omo Baba Olowo singer claimed he originally intended to work as a producer in the background but switched to singing when he realized he was superior to the vocalists he was recording.
In a recent interview with Forbes, he revealed this.
I used to be a producer, he added. I've always wished I could blend into the background. I used to have an older cousin who was sort of the family musician. I'm my family's last child. However, I quickly proved to be an expert in tech, including computers.
"So, when he told me that he is a musician, I immediately rushed to YouTube to find out how to record music. I started learning on YouTube after purchasing a computer, software, and other necessary items. I then began recording musicians. When I'm recording artists, one of my relatives who is constantly with me in the studio has noticed this. He observed that whenever the performer made a mistake, I would say, "Nah, don't sing it that way, sing it this way." This method of singing it will attract their ears more.
"So, after doing that for a while, I was like, 'Yo! I'm a better recorder than everyone else. You know, maybe I should record a song, I thought. My very first song I ever recorded went viral.
