Peter Obi, the Labour Party's (LP) 2023 presidential contender, has denied possessing two citizenships.
The former governor of Anambra State further admitted that he has never applied for citizenship in another nation and never will because he is a Nigerian who firmly believes in Nigeria.
Obi stated that his honorary citizenship in Dallas, Texas, meant "nothing" in an appearance on Arise TV on Monday night, since he claims that it doesn't even give him visa-free admission to the United States.
He continued by saying that since God did not make a mistake in creating him as a Nigerian, he would want to live and die as a Nigerian.
Speaking further on the subject of dual citizenship, Obi said that he spent roughly twelve years living in the UK, but not as a citizen, but rather with an unrestricted resident permit.
But according to the LP candidate, he returned his indefinite residence permit to the UK authorities as he was leaving the country and now only enters the country with a visa.

In the interview, Obi also said that, contrary to what had been reported on social media, he had not visited President-elect Bola Tinubu. He made it clear that the fabricated material and doctored images are part of the opposition's attempts to defeat his objectives.
